Enhancing cost efficiency and quality of medical braiders with vision-based inspection systems

This week, at the Medical Design & Manufacturing conference in Minneapolis, Machine Solutions Inc. and Taymer International introduced a new product integration designed for medical braiding. The solution links Steeger USA precision line braiders with Taymer’s vision-based inspection systems, helping manufacturers reduce surface defects and optimize braiding quality while lowering costs.

Braiding is critical in medical devices like catheters, where precise braids are essential for reliable performance. This integration allows defects to be detected in real time, cutting down on manual inspections, reducing scrap, and saving man-hours. Taymer’s vision-based systems continuously monitor braiding quality, identifying any issues early and minimizing costly rework.

“Precision is key in medical braiding, and early detection of surface defects helps prevent downstream issues,” said Danny Bogen, chief commercial officer at Machine Solutions. “By integrating Taymer’s inspection technology with our precision line braiders, manufacturers can ensure top-quality braids while reducing costs from day one.”

Key benefits include real-time detection of surface defects, where automated inspections during the braiding process catch defects as they occur, saving time and material. Improved braiding quality is achieved through Taymer’s vision-based systems paired with precision line braiders to ensure consistent, high-quality braids without manual oversight. Additionally, cost savings are realized through early defect detection, which reduces rework, man-hours, and scrap, thereby lowering overall production costs.

“Taymer’s vision-based inspection technology helps maintain high braiding standards while reducing production costs,” said Sakina Hasanova, vice president of sales at Taymer International. “This integration enables manufacturers to produce top-quality medical devices with less waste.”

The solution is available now and is being showcased at booth 3303 at MD&M Minneapolis through the end of the conference on October 17. For more information, visit steegerusa.com or contact sales@machinesolutions.com.
