The Marchesini Group will be exhibiting four complete lines: the strip line; the tray line; the blister line and the tube line.

The BA400 cartoner has been renamed BA400 Argento and revamped to conform to new GMP requirements in the pharmaceutical sector. It boasts a new electrical system; a removable electrical cabinet; a balcony-style carton conveyor for easier inspection and cleaning; new guards which increase visibility f; and a production speed of 370 cartons/min.

The Millennium 120 is a new single channel tube-filling machine with a speed of 120 items/minute. The entire dosing unit can be removed with a single action, making size changeover and cleaning fast and easy. After removal, the dosing unit can be washed in a new purpose-designed compartment that simulates tube filling machine movements, allowing the liquid detergent to reach every part of the inside. A CIP/SIP version is available with steam and sterile air.

The strip line is made up of the new MST450 strip packaging machine, which has an innovative feed system for effervescent tablets, and the Robocombi - a new generation pick&place system that allows connection to the MA255 cartoner downstream. It can handle film up to 450mm wide, at speeds of 200 tablets per channel and 100 horizontal cuts per minute. One of the major innovations is the machine structure, which is split into two modules; the first for feeding and sealing, the second for cutting and coding. Good strips are placed on a belt, which carries them to the Robocombi.

The belt is easily adjusted when the strip dimensions change, and allows the installation of additional units such as an inkjet or laser system. The Robocombi picks up 16 strips simultaneously and production reaches 800 strips/min.

The new blister line reaches speeds of 600 blisters/minute. It has a compact layout with the reels on the back and areas that are clearly separated thanks to the modular, balcony structure. Each cavity is perfectly formed by the combined use of punches and compressed air to guarantee constant film thickness and optimum product protection. Flat sealing without the use of rollers ensures that an even pressure is applied over the entire surface of the blister tiles. The feed and sealing stations operate with continuous movements so that blister tiles are handled as delicately as possible.
