Marchesini Group, a world leader in the sector of automated machinery and complete lines for pharmaceutical packaging, will unveil innovative solutions for lines in a sterile environment, such as the new STERIL 400, a filling/capping machine for sterile applications and the ML646/2 sterile filling machine for medium level production.
The STERIL 400 is a filling/capping machine for sterile applications and may be installed under an isolator. Consisting of three modules and suitable for different layout requirements, it is completely accessible from the front and protected by laminar flow recycling. Special care was taken in the design to prevent obstacles to the linearity of the sterile air flow so that negative eddies would not form.
Filling is carried out using eight piston type rotary pumps. Each pump consists of only two parts, guaranteeing total sterilisation in an autoclave. Each filling valve piston is driven by a brushless motor, for independent and precise adjustment of the dosing volume. The capping turret, the cap loading system and the vibrating base have automatic height adjustments.
The machine is set up for installation of a statistical check weigher, with a robotised bottle pick and place device and feedback for automatic adjustment of the volume dosed. The main production features of the STERIL 400 are its 400 bottles/min. capacity, filling volumes of up to 30ml and bottle diameter of up to 36mm.
Robovision is a 4-axis robot with carbon limbs and an integrated viewing system that revolutionises con-ventional feed units in packaging lines. It was devel-oped to pick up loose items from a belt and feed them continuously to the cartoner at speeds of up to 100 pick-ups/minute and will be shown for the first time with the MA155 continuous motion horizontal auto-matic cartoner.
Its camera and software enable the machine to recognise the image of the product to be fed and to angle the product for correct insertion in the cartoner's buckets. It can be used with both parallel and transversal belts.
Having always made machines for packaging powders in sachets, Marchesini Group has decided to overhaul its traditional heat-sealed sachet form/fill/seal machine by fitting an innovative dosing unit, the MS235. To guarantee a perfect dose in every sachet, each dosing screw feeder has been fitted with a motor-driven secondary pre-screw feeder device, which feeds the product constantly in each dosing channel. Another significant advantage is the fact that this new system dispenses with mixers around the dosing unit. The dosing system is set up to be fitted with a check weigher and feedback on each lane.
When changing the sachet length, altering a parameter on the display will cause the machine automatically to retime the horizontal cutter blade for the new length, making the size changeover extremely fast. The dosing device can be automatically removed at the end of production, and parts in contact with the product can be removed without tools.
The MST200 MINI is the Marchesini Group's solution to the growing demand for stand-alone strip machines, for packaging medium-sized solid products. More compact and economical than the MST200, the MINI version has a completely vertical web path. The feed, sealing, scoring, product presence check, longitudinal cutting, transversal feed and cutting stations are placed one after another, on independent modules. This makes size changeovers very simple, without using tools and with no need for specific mechanical adjustments. The maximum speed is approx. 200 tablets/minute for each channel and the number of lanes may vary from four to 10.
The Farcon FB 320 is a new mechanical drive deep draw thermoformer, with balcony structure.
It consists of three basic modules: the first housing the stations for forming material unwinding/pre-heating/thermoforming/first material feed unit, the second dedicated to unwinding the lidding material/sealing/cooling/perforation and the last housing the second feed unit /cutter/waste recovery.
Each station is independently driven by synchronised, brushless motors. Size parts are fitted on the front, allowing fast, tool-free size changeovers. The product packaging zone is separate from the machine's electrical and electronic part housings. The feed zone can be extended as required and is completely accessible from both sides. The forming area is very large: with a surface area of 254 x 220 mm and up to 42 mm deep. The cutting speed is up to 300 packs/minute.
The BL600 is a high-speed linear labelling machine for applying self-adhesive labels on vials, bottles or other round containers. Main features of the machine include a positive step conveyor system guarantees failsafe operation, balcony structure with ergonomic arrangement of all units, clear separation of working, mechanical and electrical zones, variable step roller conveyor able to handle a wide range of sizes with the possibility of an automatic size changeover which can be set from the operator terminal.
Other highlights will include the MB430 blister thermoformer with new universal feederVasquali's FTC12 electronic tablet counter for coated tablets and hard and soft capsules; the ML55 capping machine; and the MTP10 automatic machine for producing stickpacks, a type of pack increasingly in demand in the pharmaceutical sector.
For liquids there is the FSP10 syringe filler and the RSF2 ampoule filler produced by Corima, while for creams the Millennium 120 tube filling machine has a new feeder that can easily be removed using an innovative method. Marchesini Group will also be exhibiting the following Neri machines: RL300 rotary ampoule and vial labeller and the NTL60R sterilising tunnel.
