Merck Eshmuno S resin offers increased binding capacity
For the purification of monoclonal antibodies (mABs)
Merck KGaA's Eshmuno S chromatography resin for biopharmaceutical applications has been developed for the purification of monoclonal antibodies (mABs). It features optimised tentacle adsorption and its binding capacity is increased to about 150% compared with other surface-grafted cation exchangers, the company says.
In addition, a hydrophilic polyvinyl ether base matrix specifically designed by Merck for chromatography allows higher flow rates. Both factors - tentacle adsorption and base matrix - increase productivity by up to 500% compared with other soft-gel ion exchangers, the company says.
The use of Eshmuno S instead of a protein A-based capture step can also reduce purification costs by up to 30%. In addition, the product can be safely packed into production-scale biochromatography columns by simple flow packing, axial compression or using water, which reduces costs and development times.
Merck also offers a portfolio of column sanitisation chemicals under the Emprove bio brand for Eshmuno S.
Further products will be added in due course.
