US life science provider the Millipore Corporation has unveiled another product as part of its initiative on stem cell testing.

The Millicell 1μm 24-well filter plate is the latest product available under "Stem Cell Testing" initiative

This Millicell plate is the second product available under the initiative. And is one of a number of filters that is validated for use on stem cells. The first was the Millipore's Stericup with Millipore Express PLUS membrane.

Millicell filter plates are optimised to support suspension and adherent cell growth and differentiation. The platform design enhances usability in a range of laboratory environments. These plates incorporate track-etched thin film membranes for reliable monolayer formation, microscopically transparent membranes for easy cell visualisation and fluorescent-compatible plastics and membranes.

The 24-well plate is designed for maximum user convenience and includes features that maintain assay integrity. Additionally, the 24-well Millicell cell culture plate has twice the membrane surface area compared with other 24-well plates. This allows researchers to utilise greater cell mass, which more closely models cell behaviour. The plates are automation compatible and reduce the risk of monolayer contamination with "footed" membrane plates that remain elevated when disassembled from the feeder tray and raised-well edges for better tape seating. Teardrop-shaped receiver wells eliminate air bubbles as plates are assembled.
