Multisorb in Buffalo, US, has launched a new packaging range that combines the company's high speed and sorbent dispensing equipment with its oxygen and moisture management packets.
The StabilOx packets prevent the effects of oxidative degradation in drug formulations and diagnostic reagents by reducing oxygen levels in packaging, while managing drug product free moisture and package headspace moisture, ensuring drug stability and efficacy. StabilOx dispensers use high-quality sensors, drive mechanisms, and cutters to provide higher speed and efficiency to packaging operations.
The system can be configured for sorbent insertion into a variety of healthcare packaging presentations: HDPE and glass bottles for tablets and capsules, blister packs, in-vitro diagnostic packaging, and respiratory drug delivery and medical device pouches.
The StabilOx packet functions by providing its own moisture to initialise the oxygen removal process from the package. It then continues to absorb oxygen, which may ingress through the package wall while maintaining an optimal equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) in the package headspace. This is critical in retaining drug performance, stability and integrity.
StabilOx dispensers are sturdily designed to allow for three-shift operation, while fewer moving parts compared with traditional mechanical drive systems minimise maintenance and downtime. Capable of dispensing 300 packets per minute, as well as verifying placement in every container/package, it is one of the fastest and most accurate dispensers available.
These dispensers can be customised to work with different sorbent packet types, packaging formats, and multiple drop configurations.
