Matthias Holder, 46, has assumed overall responsibility for sales in the HERMA Labelling Machines division. Born in Göppingen in southwest Germany, he has already accumulated a wealth of experience in the packaging and machine building industries. From 2011 until 2015 he worked for Bosch Packaging Technology in pharmaceutical sales, most recently as group leader for secondary packaging lines and bag-in-box systems. Among other responsibilities, he was in charge of cartoning lines and track & trace systems – solutions that are often equipped with HERMA labellers.
Matthias Holder studied industrial engineering and trained as a printer. His first job in machine building was with the printing press manufacturer MAN Roland. From 2001 until 2006 he was employed by its consulting subsidiary Eurografica Systemplanungsgesellschaft as a management consultant to the global printing and packaging industry. In 2006 he transferred to MAN Roland headquarters, where he worked in sales and product management.
We intend to be at the forefront of endeavours to make labellers ready for the future of manufacturing
After the period with Bosch Packaging Technology, he joined the HERMA Labelling Machines division in 2015, initially as head of domestic sales. "HERMA labellers enjoy an excellent reputation in the industry, and I know from my own experience that it is entirely justified," says Holder. "One of my principal tasks now is to focus our existing applications expertise more assiduously on exploiting our technology lead and setting standards in defined industries and markets. We also intend to be at the forefront of endeavours to make labellers ready for the future of manufacturing – sometimes referred to as Industry 4.0. Interpack 2017 will serve as an early milestone in this connection."
For Martin Kühl, who heads HERMA's Labelling Machines division, the new post of head of sales is of crucial importance in the context of worldwide expansion. "Matthias Holder is bringing with him a tremendous skill set in the fields that are of major significance for us at the moment. These include a profound understanding of the pharmaceutical business, experience in selling sophisticated packaging machines, and a wealth of knowledge relating to process optimisation and product management. It's a combination that is extremely valuable for us."
