Protagen, a specialist in protein research products and services, has launched software that automates the identification of post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins.

PTMs modulate the activity of most proteins, and analysis of these modifications has become increasingly important for drug discovery and development. This latest software provides more comprehensive information and reduces the time needed for such analysis.

Modiro can analyse thousands of mass spectrometry profiles in parallel to identify unknown mass shifts, sequence errors and unspecific enzymatic cleavage of amino acids in high throughput. In one step, the software enables these variances to be visualised and evaluated.

The analysis of many spectra in parallel, together with Modiro's analysis interface, gives a more complete characterisation of the protein faster than previously possible. The software can use mass spectrometry data from all leading instrument manufacturers.
