New US private-public partnership probes pharma compounds
Project will test more than 20 compounds supplied by pharmaceutical companies
The USA’s National Institutes of Health has launched a collaborative programme creating teams of researchers from the public and private sectors to assess the additional potential of compounds already partly tested for patient safety.
The Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules project commands a US$20m (€15.7m) budget and will test more than 20 compounds supplied by pharmaceutical companies.
