Will focus on metering valves and spray pump assembly, providing locally manufactured devices to the Indian pharmaceutical industry

Aptar Pharma, a leader in the development and manufacturing of nasal and pulmonary drug delivery devices, has opened a new manufacturing facility near Mumbai, India.

The company first established a presence in Mumbai in 1999, providing new and proven aerosol, spray and dispensing systems to biotechnology, healthcare and pharmaceutical companies in India.

Located at Rabale, Navi Mumbai, Aptar Pharma says the new facility is the first of its kind and will be key to furthering its commitment to provide Indian customers with high quality products.

The site includes an ISO 7 cleanroom where production will focus on the DF30 metering valve for pMDIs and on spray pump assembly.

Aptar Pharma India currently employs around 30 people. With the opening of the new Mumbai manufacturing site, this team will be reinforced with a number of ‘different employment profiles’.

‘With the launch of the second Aptar Pharma manufacturing site in Asia, after Suzhou in China, we are on track to meet our main objective of better serving Indian customers by providing locally manufactured devices,’ said Marc Prieur, president of Aptar Pharma Asia. ‘This state-of-the-art manufacturing site, along with a highly skilled local team, shows Aptar Pharma’s strong commitment to the Indian pharmaceutical industry.’
