Wins Organiser Team of the Year award

CPhI Japan won the Organiser Team of the Year award at the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Excellence Awards this month.

Operating the leading pharma event in Asia's largest market, the CPhI Japan team was rewarded for its high level of dedication and professionalism. After the earthquakes in Northeast Japan and the tsunami in 2011, the team moved the event to Osaka in three months, retaining 50% of its original clients and subsequently helping the Japanese pharma market to recover under the extraordinary circumstances.

In 2012, CPhI Japan returned to the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre with a record attendance of 14,473 visitors, representing a 17% increase over 2010. The success revealed the loyalty of the markets towards CPhI Japan, as well as the strength and resilience it had demonstrated to the Japanese pharma market in times of adversity.

Jime Essink, president and chief executive of UBM Asia, said: ‘We are very honoured to have won UBM's first AEO award, which recognises and celebrates our excellence and innovation in serving customers. I would like to congratulate the CPhl Japan team and applaud their hard work. Their dedication in delivering a record event in April 2011 when the natural disaster hit just four weeks before the event is absolutely impressive.’

The AEO Excellence Awards recognise achievements in various areas of the event organising industry, from organisers to venues to suppliers every year.

CPhI Japan is a collaboration between UBM Asia in Japan and UBM Live, a UBM company which is based in Amsterdam.

The 2012 awards ceremony was held at the Honorable Artillery Club in London and attended by more than 1,000 events industry professionals.
