The pharmaceutical manufacturer in Barbados uses the CI Precision SADE SP240 to weight sort both tablets and capsules

Carlisle Laboratories Limited has started to use the SADE SP240 weight sorter from CI Precision in the tablet/capsule production department for weight sorting for quality control.

Robert Arrindell, Senior Technician in the Maintenance Department said: "Our decision to purchase the SADE SP240 was based on the reliability and service of laboratory equipment previously purchased from CI Precision." Carlisle Laboratories have been using weight sorting units from CI Precision for more than 15 years.

The SADE SP240 is used to weight sort both tablets and capsules: tablet sizes are between 5.5 – 13mm; capsule sizes: 0,1, 2. Batch sizes vary between 100,000 – 2,500,000 items. Carlisle Laboratories also purchased an SP Connect software licence, Validation Support Documentation and a Full Spares Pack.

Arrindell commented: "I can recommend the SADE SP240 to other companies because it is simple to operate, easy to clean and maintain and has acceptable reliability."

The company is a small branded generic pharmaceutical manufacturer, which has been operating in Barbados, West Indies, since 1961 and exporting more than 80% of its production primarily in the Caribbean.

Carlisle Laboratories currently operates a small but well-equipped plant, which includes some electronically controlled machines and robotics. It produces a range of liquid, semi-solid and solid dosage forms across a range of approximately 200 SKUs, supplying the private and public sectors throughout the region.
