Creates space for two new customers to be integrated into the facility
Davies & Robson completes a warehouse optimisation project for Movianto UK
Northamptonshire, UK-based supply chain management specialist Davies & Robson has completed a warehouse optimisation project for pharmaceutical logistics specialist, Movianto, allowing two new customers to be integrated into the facility.
Movianto UK is part of the Movianto Group, which operates in 13 European countries providing contract logistics solutions to the pharmaceutical industry. The Group was acquired by US-based Owens & Minor in August 2012.
The UK operation has a number of warehousing and distribution locations with the head office and main warehouse based in Bedford. This 400,000ft2, multi-user warehouse has a capacity of 66,000 locations ranging from full pallets to cartons.
As part of a wider review of operations, Davies & Robson conducted a process analysis of the warehouse and the multi-client operations, aiming to improve the throughput of the building and maximise the use of the available space.
By adjusting a few processes, making sure that existing materials handling equipment was used efficiently and identifying which customers and products should be picked from the mezzanine area, it has been possible to improve the utilisation of the building and integrate two new customers into the existing space.
