Intertek ASG in outsourcing agreement with Avecia
Intertek Group has entered into a laboratory outsourcing agreement with Avecia for its Analytical Sciences Group (ASG).
Intertek Group has entered into a laboratory outsourcing agreement with Avecia for its Analytical Sciences Group (ASG).
Under the agreement, Intertek will provide independent expert analytical testing and scientific services to Avecia businesses and more widely to companies within the speciality chemical sector.
Fifty-three former Avecia employees, together with the associated laboratory equipment and facilities at Avecia's research centre in Blackley, Manchester, transferred to the new organisation - Intertek ASG.
The Intertek ASG laboratory is a world-class facility currently supporting innovation for a range of industry sectors including fine chemicals, electronic materials, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Intertek ASG has a strong problem-solving culture with expertise in research and development programmes, new product introduction and the practical resolution of manufacturing problems.
The general manager Dr John Conti-Ramsden said: 'The creation of Intertek ASG is an excellent development for the former Avecia research community at Blackley. It places the ASG laboratory in an independent, global organisation with a long term commitment to specialised laboratory services.
'The establishment of Intertek ASG presents op-portunities for us to offer our extensive capabilities to a much wider group of customers across a broader range of industries. It will also enable us to develop a service platform which delivers cost effective and flexible support for innovation wherever the combination of our chemistry skills and broad industry experience can make a difference.'
