Intertek acquires Ciba division from BASF
Intertek buys regulatory and safety and testing businesses of Ciba Expert Services
Quality testing company Intertek has expanded its operations with the acquisition from BASF of the environmental, safety and testing and regulatory businesses of Ciba Expert Services. The purchase includes Cantox Health Sciences and Ashuren Health Sciences.
Ciba Expert Services employs 200 people in the UK, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and the US.
Cantox and Ashuren are scientific research and regulatory consulting organisations for the food and nutrition, agriculture, biotechnology, consumer products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and healthcare sectors.
The purchase will add a GLP accredited, pharmaceutical services laboratory in Basel, Switzerland to Intertek’s international analytical services facilities, in addition to advanced testing services to the pharmaceutical, speciality chemical and performance materials industries in the UK, US and India.
The business is expected to generate around £20m in revenue in the first year.
