Proficiency Testing (PT), often referred to as external quality assessment in the medical and clinical arena, is a key element in the laboratory accreditation process, providing laboratories with an independent performance assessment to monitor the quality of analytical results as stipulated in ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189.
