Will consolidate 500 staff in Reading, UK facility

Quintiles is relocating its European headquarters to Reading, Berkshire, UK, in close proximity to the M4 motorway and London’s Heathrow Airport.

The US-based biopharmaceutical firm will bring together 500 staff in a state-of-the-art facility, creating a higher level of collaboration and effectiveness among its European team to serve its customers.

Dennis Gillings, Quintiles’ chairman and ceo, said: ‘This move to a technologically advanced single site will be a big step forward for our highly talented team and the customers they serve.’

The five-storey, 120,000ft2 building is built to the highest sustainability standards and has been awarded strong ratings for energy efficiency (EPC) and environmental impact (BREEAM).

This investment by Quintiles follows the opening of a laboratory and office facility in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2009, and the expansion of its Phase I facility in London, completed in March this year.

Quintiles employs more than 2,000 people in the UK.

The new building is expected to be operational towards the end of 2011.
