Repligen completes expansion of US manufacturing facility in Massachusetts
More than doubles capacity for OPUS pre-packed chromatography columns
Repligen, a US-based supplier of consumables used in the manufacture of biologics, has completed a 9,000ft2 (approximately 840m2) expansion of its manufacturing facilities at its Waltham, MA headquarters to meet growth in demand for its bioprocessing products and to ensure that the quality, capacity and support needs of its customers continue to be met.
A dedicated production suite more than doubles capacity for the company’s OPUS pre-packed chromatography columns, with cleanrooms built to ISO 7 specifications providing an appropriately controlled environment to satisfy the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards of the company’s biopharmaceutical customers.
'This expansion will enable us to meet the critical needs of our customers for quality and timely delivery,' said Walter Herlihy, President and Chief Executive of Repligen.
'The new cleanroom suite enables us to produce OPUS columns under the highest quality standard demanded by biopharmaceutical manufacturers.'
The expansion also triples warehousing space and includes dedicated purification and fermentation laboratories for optimisation of existing manufacturing processes, new product development and applications support.
An additional 17,000ft2 (1,600m2) is reserved for future expansion.
Repligen also has a manufacturing facility in Lund, Sweden.
