Romaco FrymaKoruma has set up and equipped the ProTec Process Technology Centre and increased capacity at its Neuenburg site in Germany.

The processing and packaging technology supplier has added 15 different process plants and mills, as well as modern equipment.

The complex, which includes several conference rooms and an analytical laboratory, provides sufficient space for carrying out scientific trials and customer projects. The plants will be used to develop special recipes for liquid and semi-solid products. In addition, ProTec sees itself as being an international forum for training and conferences.

Investment in the Process Technology Centre was accompanied by comprehensive renovation work at the Neuenburg site. New offices for the sales and marketing departments were built over an area of about 600sq m.

Romaco FrymaKoruma produces mills and process technology for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and chemical industries. The company, with sites in Neuenburg and Rheinfelden (Switzerland), came about through a merger of Koruma Maschinenbau and Fryma in 2000.

"In the nine years since the merger, we have particularly been able to draw potential from the symbiosis of the two sites," said Artur Sarnecki, managing director of Romaco FrymaKoruma. "This is a corporate strategy that we want to pursue further in the future."

The Romaco Group, with its headquarters in Karlsruhe (Germany), is part of US-based Robbins & Myers.
