Wasdell Packaging Group, a contract packer to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, has enhanced its capabilities and services through the acquisition of Quantum Straightforward, based in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK.

The move has enabled Wasdell, also based in Swindon, to enter the pick-pack, storage and distribution sector.

The firm has been integrated into the Wasdell Packaging Group and will now be called Wasdell Storage and Distribution and operate from Wasdell’s new 72,000ft2 premises, which were acquired in April and can accommodate 8,000 pallet locations. The firm holds an MHRA Wholesalers Dealers Licence and has an extensive client base.

The acquisition was completed in July and all of Quantum’s staff have been retained by Wasdell.

‘By acquiring a successful business we are able to hit the ground running and can offer expanded and new capabilities to our customers from day one without compromising on quality and service levels,’ said James Wasdell, commercial director of Wasdell.

Commenting on the acquisition, Martin Tedham, managing director of Wasdell, said: ‘In the past our customers would have their products imported into controlled storage and distribution facilities in the UK.

‘The products would then be delivered into Wasdell to be packed, before going back to the same distribution company for delivery to the customer.

‘However, our move to become a more vertically integrated and economical company allows us to provide a complete and less complex solution.’

Wasdell now has the ability to pack, store and deliver completed products either by container load or individual units direct to the end user, speeding up the supply chain and significantly reducing transport and overall supply costs.
