With the extended range of PROFINET-enabled process pumps for digital network control, users no longer need digital gateways, adaptors or expensive PLC interface cards

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group is extending its industrial Ethernet control offer by making PROFINET available on its 530, 630 and 730 series of cased peristaltic pumps. This added communication capability gives customers access to performance data and connectivity with modern PLC control systems and the Internet of Things (IoT) using either EtherNet/IP or PROFINET.

With the extended range of PROFINET-enabled process pumps for digital network control, users no longer need digital gateways, adaptors or expensive PLC interface cards, the company says. It is possible to reduce system cost and complexity by using the pump as a gateway to sensor date.

These pumps include network dispensing functions, allowing users to create dispensing and dosing recipes which can be controlled and adjusted remotely or through the pump HMI. This capability ensures repeatable dosing and filling.

The pumps feature a direct interface to third-party pressure and flow sensors. This extended, smart communication capability enables users to read information across their network via the pump. It is also possible to set local control limits, offering a simple, cost-effective way to safeguard process integrity through independent performance monitoring.

Watson-Marlow’s 530, 630 and 730 Industrial Ethernet pump range is fully compatible with advanced distributed control systems and brands of PLC including Rockwell Automation, Emerson (Delta-V), Siemens and Beckhoff. Furthermore, the pumps support a broad range of sensor technologies such as Krohne, Pendotech, Sonotec and Em-tec for single-use biopharma as well as Parker Hannifin and Balluff for process industries.
