Danish company Niro has installed a Spray Fluidizer in its process and product test centre in Copenhagen.

Niro's Spray Fluidizer technology combines drying and granulation in a single operation and transforms pumpable feed into a non-dusty, non-chalky, free-flowing granulate.

As most materials behave differently in a Spray Fluidizer, applications need to be tested in a pilot plant prior to full-scale production. The Niro test centre is said to be the largest of its kind in Europe and incorporates more than 35 different pilot plants including spray drying, freeze drying, fluid bed drying, flash drying, agglomeration, extraction, concentration, swirl fluidisation and laboratory facilities.

The Spray Fluidizer now allows Niro customers to evaluate this technique and compare it with alternative technologies without the need to invest in the plant itself. The test centre is also able to process batches of customers' products for contract manufacturing projects.
