Par Health launches sugammadex prefilled syringe to eliminate compounding steps in hospitals

The 200 mg/2 mL RTU addition to Par Health's TruDelivery portfolio reduces preparation time and error risk, as well as offering longer stability than standard compounded mixtures across hospital workflows

Essential pharmaceutical company Par Health has announced the launch of its sugammadex injection in a manufacturer-prepared, ready-to-use 200 mg/2 mL prefilled syringe.

The company has also commenced initial shipments of the prefilled syringes.

Sugammadex is a specialised medication used during general anaesthesia to reverse neuromuscular blockade caused by the muscle relaxants rocuronium and vecuronium.

The launch expands Par Health's TruDelivery portfolio, which features premixed hospital pharmaceuticals including Adrenalin, Bivalirudin and Vasostrict.

These ready-to-use (RTU) products eliminate diluting, mixing and compounding steps, reducing preparation time and streamlining hospital operations. They also offer longer stability compared with standard compounded hospital mixtures.

The company said that the solutions "may help hospitals reduce waste and costs, optimise workflow efficiency and minimise the risk of preparation error," allowing healthcare providers to "focus on delivering quality patient care."

"Healthcare providers are looking for solutions that improve workflow efficiency and reduce the risk of preparation error," said Dr Bill Larkins, President, Sterile Injectables and Chief Scientific Officer.

The addition of sugammadex injection to our TruDelivery portfolio underscores our focus on delivering ready-to-use solutions that address real-world challenges in healthcare settings.
