RTS Life Science, a specialist in delivering automation solutions, is set to share its 25-year knowledge base with scientists attending a half-day workshop next month on biomolecular screening.

RTS will host the five-day SBS 14th Annual Conference & Exhibition in St. Louis, Missouri and will present two posters - one looking at how RTS has partnered with a major pharmaceutical company to challenge the current accepted models for compound management. The poster, entitled: 'A New Paradigm in Sample Library Management and Replication," will focus, in particular, at the increasing use of the Labcyte Echo 550/555 liquid handler by Sample Management and HTS professionals.

The second poster outlines the current state of compound storage in the pharmaceutical industry. In particular, this poster, entitled: "Storage Solutions: New Technologies, New Applications, presents an insight into the future demands of sample management for drug discovery applications.

RTS' workshop - "RTS Libradexx A New, Flexible Approach to Compound Library Management using Acoustic Dispensing Technology," will be co-hosted by Labcyte and will feature a system supplied to GlaxoSmithKline. There have long been discussions regarding the benefits of large integrated systems against a workstation approach; RTS" Libradexx is an integrated software and hardware solution that uses the Labcyte Echo in such a way as to combine the benefits of the two. During the session, RTS will discuss how this innovative, semi-automated sample storage solution was developed and is being used by GlaxoSmithKline.

The conference and exhibition runs from 6 to 10 April. The three-hour RTS workshop is scheduled to start at 1.30pm on 6 April.
