A new tool designed to analyse the moisture content of coarse and fine pourable products has been launched for the research laboratory community.

The LMA500 optical moisture analyser from Sartorius uses near infrared light (NLR) spectroscopy and is ideal for at-line process control applications, the company says.

It measures moisture content within a range of approximately 0.1% - 50%, depending on product properties. Analysis does not modify the sample, so the sample can still be used after measurement.

The LMA500 offers a wide range of powerful calibration features and an operating panel that makes them easy to use. The LMA500 cleverly calibrates itself by analysing data it has collected using sophisticated multivariate statistics (regression analyses, approximation procedures) practically without the need for user input or expert knowledge.

Other features and benefits include a very fast response time (<2 sec.); rugged and durable design with a dust-proof and splash-proof IP54 housing; contact-free and non destructive analysis; comprehensive software for creating and adapting basic calibration data; intuitive operation with touch-screen display; and, networking capabilities.
