Schreiner MediPharm develops protective label for light-sensitive ADC on behalf of WuXi XDC

The pharmaceutical labelling company developed a cover for a light/UV-sensitive ADC drug product contained in a vial on behalf of CRDMO WuXi

Schreiner MediPharm has provided a light-protecting label for CRDMO WuXi XDC's ADC drug vials.

The labelling solution was required as the light-sensitive API — which is in a lyophilised form — must be protected from external influences to retain its efficacy.

To serve WuXi's client, Schreiner MediPharm developed a label with integrated UV and light protection capabilities, which was designed for transparent vials.

Schreiner also incorporated a resealable inspection window into the label to allow those running clinical trials to have an unadulterated view of the vial content.

This will allow clinicians to inspect the condition and colour of the drug before it's administered — ensuring its efficacy.

However, it also allows sufficient blinding of the active ingredient as part of the double-blind clinical trial process.

As ADCs become increasingly popular in a range of disease indications, solutions such as the one Schreiner has developed will become increasingly important.

This is because many of these drug products are highly sensitive to their surroundings.
