The building houses new chromatography and immunoassay laboratories to considerably increase production capacity. It also provides extra office space, allowing for continued recruitment of qualified staff.
The GLP/GCP compliant facility now offers additional capacities such as mass spectrometry, immunoanalysis and cell-based bioassays, which complete the already-existing and wide portfolio of solutions offered by the site.
Walid Elbast, General Manager in France, said: “The expansion comes at an exciting time. It allows us to meet increased demand in the area and shorten processes for our pharmaceutical clients. For me, this is a testimony to the outstanding teamwork of everyone involved and SGS’s continued investment in supporting innovation in the life sciences sector.”
The laboratory comes with state-of-the-art technology including mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), UPLC, immunoassay equipment and automated sample preparation. In addition, large sample storage combined with barcode systems allows for sample storage of up to 800,000 samples.
Mark Rogers, Global Scientific Director, highlighted the crucial role the new laboratory will play in serving global markets: “The expansion of the laboratory will strengthen our network of bioanalytical facilities around the world, and help us deliver high-quality testing and faster turnaround times to our clients.”
The facility also introduces new digital tools such as CRM/CPQ for contracting and monitoring, Laboratory Work Flow, as well as upgrades to the site's quality management system with the implementation of TrackWise and sample automation capabilities.
