Shire Pharmaceuticals Group has been granted a patent in the US relating to ADDERALL XR, expiring in 2018. ADDERALL XR is a novel once daily formulation of Shire's US ADHD brand leader, ADDERALL, and is convenient for children because they can take it at home rather than at school. It has a rapid onset of action and is well-tolerated, with few side effects.
