At CPhI Worldwide 2026, Stoelzle Glass Group will present the next evolution of EcoSecur, its Type 2 pharmaceutical glass packaging solution. Visitors to the Stoelzle booth can discover how the enhanced liquid-based inner-surface treatment process improves coating consistency and product performance and discuss current pharmaceutical packaging challenges directly with the company's experts.
EcoSecur has been commercially available since 2021. Following several years of development, customer qualification and industrial validation, Stoelzle has further advanced the manufacturing process behind the established solution.
More precise treatment for consistent performance
Conventional manufacturing methods for Type 2 glass typically rely on gas- or pellet-based treatment processes. At its pharmaceutical glass production site in Köflach, Austria, Stoelzle uses an enhanced liquid-injection process. The treatment solution is injected directly into the bottle through a needle, with the dose precisely adapted to each container size to support an even distribution across the sidewalls and base.
For pharmaceutical manufacturers, the result is a more homogeneous inner-surface treatment, improved hydrolytic resistance and greater production consistency - particularly relevant for sensitive injectable formulations, infusion therapies and other parenteral applications.

A proven solution for pharmaceutical applications
EcoSecur is produced from Type 3 soda-lime pharmaceutical glass with an inner-surface treatment that gives containers Type II performance. It is available globally in flint and amber glass, in formats from 7 ml to 500 ml, and complies with European and US pharmacopoeia requirements. EcoSecur is suitable for pharmaceutical applications in both human and veterinary medicine, including injection vials and infusion bottles for parenteral medicines, contrast media, pain therapies, plasma and infusion therapies.

The precise dosing approach is also designed to support resource-efficient production by applying only the amount of treatment solution required for each container. This can help reduce material use and waste, while automated process controls support consistent production and employee safety.
