The Africa microreactor flow system from Syrris is a fully automated, flexible and easy-to-use modular apparatus for automated flow chemistry. It allows unattended synthesis as it is controlled by Africa software, allowing r&d chemists to accelerate compound synthesis and reaction optimisation for drug discovery and process development.

The Africa (Automated Flow Reaction Incubation and Control Apparatus) software automatically detects which modules are connected, so the user can select a pre-defined workflow or create a new one with the drag-and-drop interface. The user simply enters the reagents, solvents and molar concentrations, followed by data on stochiometry, reaction time, temperature and the desired quantity. All injection, sampling and collection timings are automatically controlled, leaving the user free to perform other tasks within the lab.

The software automates each experiment and all data is logged. If the HPLC module is connected, a sample of each reaction is automatically taken, diluted and injected into the HPLC for analysis. Resulting chromatograms are easily produced, integrated or tabulated as required. Once the experiment is complete, reports and graphs can be generated in real time and data exported.
