Thermo Fisher Scientific's Escalab 250Xi X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) is for the characterisation of surfaces, thin films and coatings.

The company says it integrates spectrometer performance with the Thermo Scientific Avantage XPS user interface, giving high sample throughput and excellent analytical performance. Additionally, the integration of an advanced parallel image detection system enables quantitative spectroscopic analysis of small features within the image field of view.

The Avantage Data System offers a workflow that guides analysts through data acquisition, interpretation, processing and report generation. It offers full digital tool control while providing a range of XPS spectrum and image processing routines.

The Escalab 250Xi can be configured with other surface characterisation techniques, such as ion scattering spectroscopy and reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy, are provided with the instrument.

A sample preparation chamber is provided with the instrument as standard.
