Vision system gives greater insight

Vision inspection system specialist Insight Control Systems International has launched the InSight 2000 On-Line Vision System for pharmaceutical products and medical devices. The system is said to offer non-contact 100% inspection at production speeds of up to 3,400 parts/min in full frame mode.

Using either monochrome or true colour inspection capability, it tracks product into the camera's field of view, captures an image, analyses it based on preset parameters and removes any defective product from the line.

Applications include the inspection of pharmaceutical products and packages, such as closures, vials, ampoules, syringes and parenteral appliances.

According to Insight Control Systems International, InSight 2000 uses advanced proprietary software algorithms and a self-teach capability to enhance product quality and increase product yield by simultaneously reducing false accepts and false rejects.

The system rates each product to specified standards, providing quality information far beyond the typical pass/fail determination. This quantitative information helps identify problematic process trends before out of tolerance products are produced, the company says.
