Additional analytes
Two new analytes - sucrose and ethanol - have been added to the YSI 7100 multiparameter bioanalytical system (MBS) from UK-based Analytical Technologies, a division of YSI. Simultaneous measurement of up to six substrates, including sucrose, glucose and ethanol, allows manufacturing processes to be monitored and controlled to maintain product quality. Other substrates currently available are lactate, glutamine, glutamate, ammonium and potassium, with others to be released shortly, the company says.
The YSI technology uses immobilised enzyme electrodes which not only ensure accurate, rapid measurements but keep operating costs low as the mix-and-match membranes can be reused many times. No pretreatment of samples is necessary and the analyser has easy user access for routine maintenance.
The touch-screen display and the barcode entry system make programming simple, while the 30-position autosampler leaves the operator free to work on other tasks. A built in printer and fully portable data system provide output, storage and transfer options.
