Collaborates with Durham and Leeds Universities to commercialise new manufacturing technology

Aesica, the University of Durham and the University of Leeds have been awarded a METRC Innovation Award, which will be used to develop processes that will improve cost efficiencies and increase manufacturing capacity at the UK contract manufacturing organisation’s Cramlington site.

Earlier this year, the company established the Aesica Innovation Board (AIB) to identify and commercialise new technologies that would help to bridge the growing R&D gap and the company is actively seeking development partnerships with academia and innovative businesses.

This latest partnership builds on a collaboration formed with Bradford University this year. It aims to develop new or improved routes for the manufacture of an API. A detailed kinetic study is already underway and based on this new flow processes will be developed before being scaled up at Cramlington.
