The greentech company AFYREN has announced that its plant AFYREN NEOXY has obtained FSSC 22000 certification, the benchmark for food safety quality.
The industrial site is now certified for the "production and processing of biobased monocarboxylic acids and their derivatives for food and feed industries."
The certification is recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), ensuring compliance with the highest food safety standards.
Its purpose is to address the increasing demand for food safety and to commit AFYREN to fostering a "Food Safety Culture" within its management system. This culture is built on principles of management commitment, effective communication, training and continuous improvement.
AFYREN said in a statement that the certification demonstrates the company's proactive approach to food safety management and its ability to adapt its processes to the regulatory frameworks of its sectors, at both the European and international levels.
"FSSC 22000 certification is essential for long-term success in the agri-food market," said Joachim Merziger, Chief Commercial Officer, AFYREN.
It attests to our concrete commitment to continuous improvement and represents a guarantee of quality and performance for our partners and customers in the strategic sectors of human food, animal feed and flavours.
"Along with the other certifications we have already obtained, or are in the process of obtaining, it strengthens the relationship of trust with all the players in our value chains."
This certification is issued by an independent third party after a comprehensive audit of the company's internal processes and is valid for three years. It will be subject to annual follow-up audits.
The company said that, to bolster its comprehensive approach to quality and continuous improvement, it has obtained several additional certifications for its products and management systems, including ECOCERT, UAB, COSMOS, Responsible Care and ISO 9001, with more in progress.
