Amgen has announced plans to open a new Science and Innovation Center at Genome Valley in Hyderabad, increasing the total number of research laboratories the company runs to eight.
The site is set to open in 2027 and will share the hub with neighbours such as Eli Lilly and Novartis.
"The new centre in Genome Valley expands the way we integrate experimental science with data and technology across our global research capabilities and complements our strong U.S.-based Research and Development footprint," said Dr Jay Bradner, Executive Vice President of Research and Development, Artificial Intelligence and Data at Amgen.
By connecting these capabilities, we can learn faster and translate those insights into innovative medicines for patients.
The company added that the new facility will complement its existing technology and innovation site in Hyderabad.
The investment follows on from similar domestic projects, including a centre at Amgen's Thousand Oaks headquarters that will cost $600m and a $125m expansion to its South San Francisco hub.

The company did not disclose the cost of the centre.
