NJM/CLI, a US packaging equipment supplier, has introduced Model 326 Auto-Colt III Trunnion, a pressure-sensitive labelling machine for small pharmaceutical and ophthalmic containers.
The machine handles round containers from 14.3 to 50.8mm in diameter and with shoulder heights from 20.6 to 76.2mm. It has an operating speed of up to 300 containers/min, applying wrap-around labels.
The Auto-Colt III also features a servo-driven feedscrew and trunnion roll system for positive container handling and servo-driven label dispenser and applicator for accurate label placement. It achieves labelling accuracies of +/- 0.5mm while fast changeovers and low maintenance maximise operating efficiency.
The machines is fitted four Allen-Bradley Kinetix servomotors that achieve automatic speed compensation and synchronisation with the conveyor. The integrated label tracking capability of the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix platform maximises equipment versatility.
NJM/CLI can equip the Auto-Colt III Trunnion with a range of options including OCV/OCR vision camera, RFID labelling, hot stamp, laser or thermal transfer coders, label placement inspection, barcode readers, soft rejects stations and an automatic label removal station to eliminate faulty labels from the web.
The servo-driven feedscrew features an integrated air reject for fallen containers, which reduces jams and minimises downtime. Fail-safe logic keeps the system running even when the web is missing a label.
A 10-in Windows-based colour touchscreen control panel offers four levels of password-protected access. Recipe management and repeatable indication points for all machine settings simplify and speed changeovers. Fixed position product sensors eliminate the need to make mechanical adjustments when setting the label location on the container.
The Auto-Colt III Trunnion can be changed over in less than 10 minutes without requiring any tools.
