Autolomous and Cellular Origins integrate platforms to deliver end-to-end cell therapy manufacturing

The combined Constellation robotics and autoloMATE digital infrastructure creates a fully connected, traceable manufacturing environment, enabling standardised scale-up from development to commercial production

Autolomous and Cellular Origins have announced the integration of their respective autoloMATE and Constellation platforms, bringing full automation and digitisation to the entire cell therapy manufacturing process.

The pair said in a statement that the new scalable approach would create a "connected manufacturing environment," giving developers greater standardisation, traceability and control across the whole manufacturing process.

Cellular Origins’ Constellation automated platform integrates mobile robotics, existing bioprocessing technologies and sterile fluid transfer into a single, coordinated operation, reducing the risk of manufacturing cell therapies.

The platform has a flexible, modular architecture that allows developers and manufacturers to scale manufacturing capacity as demand grows while maintaining standardised processes, which Cellular Origin's said would help avoid therapy redevelopment and reduce scale-up risk.

Autolomous’ digital autoloMATE platform is focused on real-time data exchange and integration with existing software and AI systems, as well as devices and robotic platforms, throughout the entire manufacturing process and supply chain.

The duo said that the combined solution addresses issues of fragmentation, limited visibility and the lack of standardised, interoperable data flows, all without disrupting existing processes.

This enables manufacturers to scale to commercially viable levels.

Initial integrations have already been completed at the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult Digital and Automation Testbeds, as part of a project funded by Innovate UK.

"Scientific ambition has never been the bottleneck in bringing innovative cell therapy to patients, but the delivery infrastructure has brought many challenges," said Alexander Seyf, CEO of Autolomous.

Together with Cellular Origins, we enable fast and efficient scaling from research through to patient administration, ensuring standardisation, automation and digitisation across the entire process.

Edwin Stone, CEO of Cellular Origins, added: "Scaling cell therapy manufacturing is not just a question of employing automation; it requires a manufacturing system that can evolve with demand."

Our collaboration with Autolomous — and joint work with the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult — clearly demonstrates how robotic platforms and digital infrastructure can operate as one.
