The contribution of Dr Trevor Jones, director general of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), in the field of biotechnology has been recognised with a prestigious award. The FIP Bio-Tech Award is made each year by the Federation International Pharmaceutique (FIP) Foundation for Education and Science to pharmaceutical scientists who have made a significant contribution to the rapidly developing biotech sector. Dr Jones has played a leading role in r&d initiatives in the UK.
'I am greatly honoured that I have been selected for this award,' he said. 'This is not simply a recognition of my personal career achievements but an acknowledgement of the enormous contribution that the pharmaceutical industry in the UK has made to the development of biotechnology and science in general.'
