Catalent Pharma Solutions has installed and qualified an automated Zed in-line blister card sealer at its clinical supply services facility in Philadelphia, US, as part of an ongoing investment to support the increasing global clinical trial requirements of its customers.

The in-line blister sealer is suitable for both small and high-volume clinical trial packaging. The large sealing surface can accommodate large or small format blister cards and the extended filling area allows up to eight different blister strips to be filled at one time.

With the capability to place blister cards and blister strips automatically, the card sealer can reduce significantly the run time of carding jobs. Dual sealing stations allow for increased speed throughout the process and assists in cutting the blister package sealing time in half.

"Our investment in the latest technology upgrades in clinical packaging illustrates our commitment to help supply chain managers speed supplies to clinical trials and products to market," said Frank Lis, vice president and general manager, Clinical Supply Services, Catalent.
