Catalent Pharma Solutions" commercial packaging facility in Corby, UK received a High Commendation in the judge's Special Award category in the 2009 Best Factory Awards.
The commendation highlighted Catalent's ability to respond quickly to customer demands, which was recently demonstrated by a packaging launch for GlaxoSmithKline's antiviral product Relenza. The Corby team moved from preliminary discussion through design, implementation, validation and into full production in just 12 weeks.
The project also won Catalent the Best Contract Manufacturing award at this year's European Outsourcing Awards ceremony.
Steve Facer, general manager of Catalent's Corby site, said: "We were very pleased to partner GSK in helping them meet increasing demand for their product, and we look forward to working with them in the future."
Catalent's Corby business, acquired in 2001 from Astra Pharmaceuticals, has been transformed in the last eight years into a leading provider of outsourced healthcare packaging services for the UK and Europe, and currently employs around 220 people.
The Best Factory Awards are overseen by the Cranfield (UK) School of Management.
