The Tower Wing of Guy\'s Hospital includes labs and space for meetings and networking

The Cell Therapy Catapult, a centre of translational excellence for cell therapy and regenerative medicine in the UK, has moved into its new state-of-the-art facilities in the Tower Wing of Guy's Hospital in London. A phased move from interim premises is underway, with all activities expected to be operational in the new centre within a few weeks.

The new 1200m2 Cell Therapy Catapult centre of excellence includes well-equipped and modular laboratories, plus space for meetings and networking. It aims to promote collaboration and innovation across the sector in the UK and globally.

The laboratories are designed to mimic manufacturing suites, enabling the progress of cell therapies from laboratory to commercial scale. A viewing area between the laboratories and office space will encourage interaction.

The facility concept and layout were prepared by eXmoor Pharma Concepts. Working with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Essentia, the project was managed by Gleeds Management Services. Refurbishment and fit-out was by ISG, with design by TP Bennett.

Keith Thompson, CEO of the Cell Therapy Catapult, said: 'After months of hard work and anticipation, it's really exciting for us to take possession of our new home. I'm pleased to report that a seamless transition from our interim laboratory and office facilities on Guy's campus has started, and we will be fully installed soon. Of course, the Technology Strategy Board and our other partners have been pivotal to the successful completion of the new facilities and many thanks are due to them.'
