ClinTec International, a global contract research organisation, announces a regional hub office for Sub-Saharan Africa, with the opening of new larger office premises in Johannesburg, South Africa. Aligning with new client partnerships, the office will support regional clinical research services including a significant new clinical FSP assignment with a global biotechnology company where ClinTec is the sole FSP partner for South Africa.
As part of further development of its management team, ClinTec has made key director level appointments, which are effective immediately. Dr Fraser Smith joins the company as Director Global Quality & Compliance; Jane Coward is appointed as Director Client Relations, while Insook Cho joins the company as Regional Director, Clinical Operations – North Asia, based in Seoul, South Korea.

Dr Smith has more than 25 years’ experience in the pharma industry and joins ClinTec from PPD where he spent the past four years as Executive Director of Clinical Quality Assurance. Additionally, he acted as a European Union Qualified Person (QP) for releasing IMP and licensed pharmaceuticals for clinical trials and commercial use, prior to leading the pharmacovigilance department within the UK.
Coward is an experienced Director of Functional Service Solutions & Global Clinical Resourcing. She joins ClinTec from inVentiv Health Clinical where she was globally responsible for the oversight of a variety of Strategic Resourcing solutions. Prior to this she managed Synergy, SRG’s niche Biometric CRO after running SRG’s Scientific and Clinical Staffing divisions.
Cho has 18 years’ experience in clinical research working with CROs. She also joins ClinTec from PPD, where she has worked for the last eight years as Associate Director, Clinical Management, with oversight of Clinical Operation in PPD Korea.
