A US health club and spa has found a new and exciting way of enjoying yoga that involves the nation's favourite sweet - chocolate.

DC Ranch Village Health Club & Spa's Chocolate-Covered Yoga class in Scottsdale, Arizona, teaches yogis how to calm the mind, exercise the body and heighten their senses on a deeper level, such as when eating chocolate.

As well as the conventional poses and breathing exercises associated with yoga, this class suggests benefits chocolate offers different parts of the body.

Chocolate with a hint of chilli is claimed to work the solar plexes and create fire in the body, while chocolate with a hint of bacon focuses on the body's foundation.

"When your mind is very focused and calm, such as it is in a yoga class, your senses are actually heightened, you experience things differently, such as when eating chocolate," said Gloria Allen, a certified yoga instructor at the club and spa.

"Chocolate-Covered Yoga is a really fun way to enjoy a different type of yoga class and see how centering, focusing and breathing changes things in your body."
