Domino, a UK specialist in coding, marking and printing technologies based near Cambridge, is seeking the views of local residents and businesses from Bar Hill and Lolworth about a proposal to extend its current site, by building a new, state-of-the-art production warehouse and office facility.
Nigel Bond, Domino Printing Sciences’ group managing director, said: ‘Due to our success and continuous growth, we have outgrown our headquarters at Bar Hill.
‘We have and continue to explore many options, one of which is to develop a new production, warehouse and office building adjacent to our current site.
‘To have all our local staff in one location will be a real benefit to our business, providing an opportunity significantly to enhance the efficiency of our operations within a single building.
‘We hope local residents will visit our exhibition, which will be an excellent opportunity for us to hear their views and explain more about our proposed development. We will take the feedback into account before submitting our planning application later this year.’
Domino is proposing to develop a 10-acre site next door to its current headquarters on farmland at the western edge of Bar Hill industrial estate. Under the plans a new global headquarters will be created, with the company’s production, warehouse and research and development facilities all housed on one extended plot. The new building is designed to accommodate Domino’s expected growth over the next 25 years. The company’s long-term plan anticipates creating a substantial number of new jobs in the area over the next 10 years.
Should Domino be granted planning permission, it hopes to start building work on site a few months later. Construction is expected to take 18 months.
Domino has organised exhibitions over two days to showcase the proposals and seek feedback from the public prior to submitting a planning application for the proposed development later this year.
The events are taking place as follows:
- Friday 23 September from 13.00 to 19.00 at The Octagon Centre, Hanover Close, Bar Hill CB23 8EH
- Saturday 24 September from 10.30 to 15.00 at Bar Hill Village Hall, The Spinney, Bar Hill CB23 8SU
There will be the chance to talk to the Domino project team including UK operations director Nick Stanbury and group operations director Rachel Hurst.
The events will provide an opportunity to learn about the detail of the proposed development, view displays including plans and artist impressions of how the new facility could look and give feedback to the development team.
