Eastman unveils new chiral ligands
A new class of chiral ligands for asymmetric catalysis has been made available by Eastman Chemical Company. The BoPhoz family is said to have a unique phosphine-aminophosphine substructure that gives the ligands properties not commonly found in other chiral catalysts.
According to Eastman, BoPhoz ligands show good shelf stability, even at ambient temperatures and open to the air. They are also said to be easily prepared and can be scaled up from laboratory to pilot and commercial quantities. Requiring no elaborate protection from the atmosphere in use, they typically show enantiomeric excesses equal to or higher than competitive materials (>98%), claims the company.
