EMA releases pain medicine guidance

Advises on clinical trial design, duration and target patient populations


The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has released a draft guideline for the clinical development of pain medicine for comments.

The guideline defines models of nociceptive, neuropathic and mixed pain for medicine development, while advising on clinical trial design, duration and target patient populations. It also offers guidance for special patient groups, including children and the elderly.
