CDMO Esteve has announced a further $17.5m capacity expansion of its Morton Grove, Illinois, facility.
The news follows the firm's announcement of an initial $15.5m expansion of the API site in March, bringing total investment at the site to $33m.
The site is Esteve's North American hub for small-molecule API development and manufacturing, combining process R&D, analytical and stability testing, cGMP API manufacturing and CMC support in one location.
The planned expansion includes two new 500-gallon reactors, improved containment capabilities in the early-stage development laboratories and a warehouse overhaul.
The company said that the site upgrades would increase flexibility for customers in early development and expand manufacturing capacity as programmes progress toward larger clinical and commercial requirements.
