New Pharmintech president has 30 years' experience in the pharmaceutical sector and now in his third term as President of Farmindustria
Pharmintech 2004, the first edition of the innovations exhibition for the pharmaceutical industry and interrelated, cosmetics and nutritional sectors that will be running in Bologna from 8 to 11 June next, has named Federico Nazzari as its President.
Nazzari boasts thirty years' experience in the pharmaceutical sector, moving through the executive ranks in Italian and multinational companies. He began his career at Upjohn in 1969 rising to the position of deputy general manager, through to his appointment as managing director of Maggioni Winthrop and then at Bracco, where he has been group vice president for General Affairs since 2000. Mr Nazzari has also occupied the posts of president and managing director of Istituto Luso Farmaco d'Italia and president of its subsidiary, Lusochimica, specialised in the production of active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry.
From 1979 to 1982 he was in charge of the Technologies and Science Department of Farmindustria, the Italian Pharmaceuticals Industry Association. In 1995 he was elected the Association's President, a designation confirmed in 1997 for a second term, and yet again in April 2003 for a third term.
Commenting on his latest appointment as president of Pharmintech 2004, Nazzari declared: 'I am pleased to be president of the first edition of what promises to be an exhibition where the many visitors from all over the world will be afforded a unique opportunity to see and become acquainted with all the latest innovations in the sector. The rich programme of conferences and seminars run by the most prestigious Italian and international trade associations is especially noteworthy. Pharmintech 2004 is an important cultural forum for the pharmaceutical industry and an appointment not to be missed.'
