At the PPMA Awards 2002, announced during the recent exhibition in Birmingham, the Award for Environmental Responsibility went to German company GEA Buck Valve for its Total Containment split butterfly valve.
Developed to provide safe transfer of highly toxic powders from reactor vessels, dust emission during all docking procedures using the valve has been shown to reach low nm/m3 exposure levels.
This is something which has been achieved only with space-consuming isolator technology and glove boxes, said UK representative Niro Pharma Systems.
